SPRING FLING 2024 - MAY 2-5, 2024

A DUPR-sanctioned tournament; please read our registration information carefully.

Deadline to register: 9:00pm April 20, 2024.

  • Players may register for two separate events: one mixed level event and one same gender event. Players will receive a registration fee discount for their second Spring Fling event. See “Regisration Fee” for discount information.

    THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER OR CANCEL IS APRIL 20, 2024 9:00PM.

    Players may register for one mixed event and one gender event.

    ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE A DUPR ACCOUNT AND BE LINKED TO THE HOP AS A CLUB BY APRIL 20, 2024.

    Deadline to evaluate DUPR scores will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The DUPR score on this date will determine the level of play you must enter.

    To create a DUPR account, go to MYDUPR.COM. Go to the clubs tab, and insert “THE HOP”, Leland, NC and “request to join club”. An administrator will then accept you into the club.

  • Registrants with a Paid HOP Membership (Charter, Frequent Player or Regular Member):

    First Event $40

    Second Spring Fling Event $25

  • When you register, either identify your partner or request “need partner”. If you have a partner selected, he/she should register and pay within 5 days.

    It is a player’s responsibility to find a partner, not the tournament director’s.

  • The schedule is visible on the Court Reserve App and is subject to change if necessary.

  • Tournament play is designed for optimal playing time.

    Format of play may change if necessary.

    Format is a round robin for seeding, followed by single elimination and then followed by medal matches in play-offs.

    Round Robin phase is games to 11, win by 1.

    After the round robin seeding, the tournament phase will begin as a single elimination phase.

    Gold/Silver medal match will be best 2/3, games to 11, win by 2.

    Bronze medal game will be one game to 15, win by 2.

    Brackets may be split by age of the youngest player of the team, depending on registrations.

    Age is calculated as of 12/31/2024.

    A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player.

    Players may register for one mixed event and one gender event.

    Tournament director reserves the right to change, modify, combine, or cancel brackets if needed.

    Splits in brackets (pools) will not be combined at the end.

    There are no referees. Matches are self-monitored. If a referee is requested, we will do our best to provide one.

  • The tournament director reserves the right to correct underrated players.

    Players with any rating that is higher than his/her registered event may be moved to a higher level at the discretion of the tournament director.

    A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player

    Players with no DUPR Rating:

    If a player’s DUPR account initially is NR=no rating, then that player is allowed to play at any level for the first time playing in a DUPR event

    DUPR Ratings:

    3.0 = DUPR 3.0-3.49; based on level of highest rated player

    3.5 = DUPR 3.5-3.99; based on level of highest rated player

    4.0 = DUPR 4.0-4.49; based on level of highest rated player.

    4.0+= DUPR 4.0 and above.

    4.5 = DUPR 4.5 and up; Any level up to 4.99 DUPR if there is a separate 5.0 division.

    4.5+ = Dupr 4.5 and above.

    5.0+ = Any level can join this division; suggested DUPR 5.0 and above.

  • Franklin X for all levels up to and including 4.0.

    Dura Fast 40 for for levels 4.5+ and above

  • Light snacks, fruit and water will be available to players.

    No FOOD or BEVERAGES allowed on the court areas.

  • The HOP facility has 12 dedicated indoor pickleball courts with controlled air conditioning and pristine surface areas made of cushiony rubber flooring of an outside surface material, so outdoor balls are used.

    There are small lockers, but bring your own lock if needed.

    Water refill stations are available.

    Food & drink ONLY allowed in lobby and center court area.

    Only plain water in closed containers allowed in court area.

    No chewing gum allowed in facility.
